On behalf of the staff, pupils, parents and governors of Luston Primary School, I would like to warmly welcome you to our school website.
Luston Primary School has gained a reputation for its open, friendly and welcoming environment and for its continued care for all children, regardless of ability or background. We expect and maintain high standards of behaviour and discipline while creating a positive and nurturing environment in which all pupils feel happy, safe, secure and confident.
We aim to teach our children to be confident and enthusiastic learners, with the skills to learn independently and in co-operation with others, fostering a healthy competitive spirit in the pursuit of excellence. However, we place great emphasis on teaching children the importance of values such as thoughtfulness, courtesy and kindness to others and our children show great respect for one another.
We are proud of our school as an important part of the village community and are aware of our role within wider society. We seek to develop an understanding of and positive attitude towards values, traditions and spiritual beliefs which may be different from our own, and to embrace the variety of cultures within our diverse society. There is a strong and active link with Manyata Primary School in Tanzania where all pupils and staff learn from each other in a supportive relationship.
In September 2017 Luston Primary School and Shobdon Primary School federated with the formation of a single governing body. The two school sites are 7 miles apart and are both located in the heart of their village communities. Pupil numbers are similar at both schools and there is a shared common ethos of excellence for the children and the staff teams. The two schools are led by Mary Freeman, with a Head of School in each setting overseeing day to day management of the schools. All staff work closely together within the federation in order to enhance the rich provision for our pupils.
This website is designed to give you a taste of life at Luston, please come and visit our wonderful school.
