Whilst much of our work in this area is inter-related with other curriculum subjects, especially Science, DT is a National Curriculum subject in its own right. Emphasis is placed on designing and making for a purpose, skills development and the exploration of some of the tools, machines and gadgets of our technological society.

Pupils have opportunities to design and investigate the elements of their designs and modify them where appropriate. They learn to devise ‘fair tests’ using increasingly advanced criteria and become confident in communicating their findings. The computer is used for the storage of information and results. Pupils soon become practised in entering and retrieving such information.
