What We Do

The Friends of Luston School Association (FLSA) aims to raise funds for the benefit of the children and school through organising enjoyable social events.  All parents/guardians of children at the school, and staff, automatically become members of the FLSA.  All are very welcome to join the Committee and come along to meetings.  A note goes out before each meeting confirming when and where it will be held.

The Committee is formed from a group of parents and a staff representative who meet regularly, at school, during term time. The Committee represents the parents/guardians and discusses any fund raising ideas brought to them and decides how funds raised should be spent.

Sadly, as with all schools, the allocated school budget cannot provide all the things that make the children’s time at Luston so enjoyable.  Without the parents/guardians, relatives and friends continuing to help by donating a raffle prize, giving an hour or so of their time, baking a cake or just supporting an event, the children would miss out on all the extra’s the FLSA provides.

Over recent years the FLSA has raised funds for:

·         the provision of the play equipment in the playground,

·         computers and IT equipment including interactive whiteboards in all classrooms,

·         subsidised theatre visits,

·         extra toys for Class 1, books for the school library and equipment for the whole school.

We are still working hard to provide more extras for the benefit of the children - money is currently being given to the school to subsidise the cost of swimming for all children.

We have recently linked up with schoolfunds.co.uk - Log on to this website and select Luston as your chosen school. You can then link in to a huge number of on-line shopping companies and earn points for the school based on any money you spend through these websites.  These points can then be converted to money which the school can spend on anything as long as it can be classed as being educational.  Do have a look and don't forget to mention it to anyone who you know that shops on-line.
