Building Work

Work to build our new Hygiene Room began in mid-June.  This means that the usual access to the school has changed.  The front of the school is now fenced off and access is through the back door – the one with the ramp.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but the work should be completed by the start of next term (September).

New School Uniform

The FLSA has kindly agreed to give all pupils a £5 voucher towards the cost of their new uniform.  The new logo is finished and we are awaiting samples to be made. Further details will follow soon.

Class Behaviour

We have introduced a whole school strategy in order to combat inappropriate classroom behaviour.  We welcome parents’ support as we strive to improve the children’s behaviour in school.  The strategy is divided into four stages, as follows:-

Stage 1 Verbal warning by class teacher to calm down/behave appropriately etc.

Stage 2

If warning does not improve behaviour then 5 - 10 minutes time out in another classroom (maximum once a day) (classes  2, 3 & 5 go to Class 1 and Classes 1 & 4 go to Class 5).  Parents will be informed.

Stage 3

If stages 1 & 2 are not sufficient then the child will be moved to Class 1 or 5 for the rest of the session.  The child will lose any privileges (no clubs, or playtimes for the next day and any special responsibilities will be removed).  The child will have an automatic Yellow Card.  His/her behaviour will be discussed with parents and class teacher/KS co-ordinator.

Stage 4

If stages 1 - 3 do not result in the necessary improvement then parents will be asked to collect their child from school.  The child will lose their privileges and receive and automatic Red Card.  A meeting will be held with parents, headteacher and class teacher or Special Needs Co-ordinator, to discuss further strategies.

We would like to let you know about www.primaryschoolstrader.com.  It is a free school community trading website for Primary School communities throughout the UK.  Parents, teachers, friends and family can use Primaryschooltrader free of charge to buy/sell anything from pets to bikes, trampolines to buggys, toys to musical instruments.  The site is easy to use and is eco-friendly, encouraging recycling and reuse of items.

Payments to School

If you send money into school for milk, music lessons, swimming, trips etc. please remember to send your payment card in with the money.  We need to let you know we have received money you have sent in and it is a terrible waste of resources if the office has to keep issuing new ones.  This does not apply to dinner money.  When money is brought into the office, please ensure that it is handed to either Mrs Sykes, Mrs Mather or to Mr Burbidge - DO NOT just leave money in the office - thank you.

If your child enrols in a club, please ensure that they are committed to attend every week as there are a limited number of places for each club and these are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  It is also essential that your child is collected punctually as the staff who run after-school clubs do so voluntarily and cannot be responsible for your child when the club ends.  We cannot accept children to watch e.g. brothers & sisters.
