Run a Mile for Macmillan

What a fantastic afternoon we had on Friday 7th April – an inspiring assembly with Ian Sockett followed by everyone going out onto the school field to run a mile for Macmillan Cancer Support.  The children were able to look at medals from London, Paris and New York marathons and also to hold Ian’s Olympic torch from London 2012.

Thank you to everyone who helped us to raise £150 for Macmillan.

Here is what Ian had to say to sum up the afternoon:

What a privilege to be invited to Luston Primary School today. During my short assembly the children listened attentively and asked the most pertinent questions. Then the real fun started as we headed outside to run a ‘Mile for Macmillan Cancer Support’. As if by magic the clouds cleared to reveal beautiful spring sunshine.
And those kids.
Truly FANTASTIC – all of you!
Age, gender, background – none of this mattered. There was maximum effort from everyone and more importantly maximum fun. The power of sport combined with helping others is magic.
Thank you to my new friends at Luston Primary. Thank you for raising an amazing £150 for Macmillan. Your school and your families should be rightly proud of you all.
And hats off to the running Easter Bunny……………whoever you are!

I’m sure you will join us in wishing Ian all the best as he runs in the London Marathon later this month to continue his fundraising for Macmillan.

Sunday 23rd April – Congratulations to Ian who finished today in just over 3 hours – a fantastic achievement. Well done!
